Wellness Trends For 2025

by Katie Pinnick | Founder - Sage Wellbeing Co

The wellness economy is booming. The Global Wellness Institute is a Miami-based not-for-profit who estimates the global health and wellness market reached US$6.3 trillion in 2023.

Ice baths, red light therapy, breathwork, meditation and nutritional supplements are now well embedded in modern wellness. So what have we got to look forward to in 2025?

Firstly, how does one define ‘wellness?’

“Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving one’s full potential.” Is one definition that resonates with me

Perhaps now an overused term, ‘wellness’ was part of our vernacular from the later part of the 20th century. Originally described as ‘health-conscious living’, this space if ever evolving and now being backed by science. Nutritional science for example is a fledgling science and new wellness terms and concepts are popping up weekly.

In reality however, wellness was practiced and celebrated by ancient civilisations.

Ayurveda, for example, is an ancient Indian philosophy dating back over 5,000 years. This system of natural medicine emphasises the balance between mind, body, and spirit, incorporating treatments that promote deep relaxation of the body and mind.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient holistic healing system developed in China over 2,500 years ago. It is based on the belief that health is achieved by maintaining balance and harmony within the body and between the body and the environment. TCM views the human body as an interconnected system, where physical, emotional, and spiritual factors influence overall health. It emphasizes the body's natural ability to heal itself through the regulation of Qi (vital energy), which flows along pathways known as meridians.

Longevity Science

In part thanks to the likes of longevity seekers and researchers Bryan Johnson, Dr David Sinclair, Luigi Fontana and Dr Frank Lipman, the science of longevity is an area we will continue to hear more about. Based on the science of reversing one’s biological age, this science uses biology of ageing research with the latest technologies and is a very exciting space. Also known as the ‘Healthspan Revolution’ this is an area to keep an eye on.

Have you heard the phrase “The Future of Medicine is Energy?”

This phrase reflects the growing belief that energy-based approaches will play a central role in advancing healthcare. This concept suggests that medicine will increasingly focus on understanding, harnessing, and manipulating the body's energy fields to promote healing, prevent disease, and optimise health.

Some proponents believe that the body operates not only physically but also at the quantum and vibrational levels. Healing may involve tuning or realigning the body's energy frequencies.

Wearable Wellness

Fitness trackers have been around for decades now but this space is getting big upgrades.

Wearable wellness refers to smart, technology-driven devices designed to monitor, promote, and enhance physical, mental and emotional well-being. These devices collect real-time data about the user’s body, behaviour, and environment, providing insights that encourage healthier lifestyle choices, improve performance, and prevent potential health issues.

For data driven individuals the future of this space is very exciting.

Wearable wellness represents a shift toward preventive and personalised health care, empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being in ways that were not previously possible.

Innovation In Nutrition Supplements - Nutraceuticals and Groundbreaking Technologies

The wellness trend of nutritional supplementation will get an overhaul with more nutraceuticals coming to market. Nutraceuticals are products derived from food sources that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition. They can help prevent or manage diseases, enhance overall well-being, and promote longevity. The term combines "nutrition" and "pharmaceutical", reflecting their role in supporting health like medicine but through dietary means.

Global Healing is a wellness brand known for their innovative formulas made with revolutionary technologies. They are pioneers of new standards in their industry with over 25 years of commitment to innovation. They have proudly developed two groundbreaking proprietary technologies that set them apart from conventional approaches.

My prediction for a big focus in the wellness space is ‘Mitochondrial Health.’

Mitochondrial Health refers to the proper functioning and efficiency of mitochondria – the energy-producing organelles found in most cells of the body. Often called the “powerhouses of the cell”, mitochondria generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule that fuels nearly all cellular activities.

Healthy mitochondria are essential for:

  • Energy production – Powering muscles, brain, heart, and all bodily functions.
  • Cellular repair and growth – Mitochondria play a role in cell regeneration and apoptosis (programmed cell death).
  • Metabolism – Regulating how the body processes nutrients and burns fat.
  • Immune function – Supporting the body’s defence against pathogens and inflammation.

Simple Ways To Improve Mitochondrial Health

Exercise:

Especially high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength training, which stimulate mitochondrial biogenesis (creation of new mitochondria).

Healthy Diet:

  • Nutrient-dense foods rich in antioxidants (berries, leafy greens)
  • Healthy fats to fuel mitochondria (extra virgin olive oil, avocados)
  • Intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating, which triggers mitochondrial efficiency

Avoiding environmental toxins:

  • Smoking and excessive alcohol can damage mitochondrial membranes.
  • Install the best quality water filter you can afford

Manage Stress:

  • Chronic stress impairs mitochondrial function. Focus on practices like meditation, breathwork and healthy sleep routines.

Supporting mitochondrial health through nutritional supplements can enhance energy production, reduce oxidative stress and promote cellular longevity. Here are some of the most effective supplements for mitochondrial support:

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)

  • Role: Essential for ATP (energy) production and acts as a powerful antioxidant that protects mitochondria from oxidative damage.
  • Benefits: Improves energy, reduces fatigue, and supports heart and brain health.

NAD+ Precursors such as NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide)

  • Role: NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Di-nucleotide) is critical for mitochondrial function and cellular repair. Levels decline with age.
  • Benefits: Increases energy, enhances longevity, and supports metabolic health.

Magnesium

  • Role: Critical for ATP synthesis and mitochondrial enzyme activity.
  • Benefits: Improves muscle function, supports cardiovascular health, and enhances overall energy.

PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline Quinone)

  • Role: Promotes mitochondrial biogenesis (creation of new mitochondria) and acts as an antioxidant.
  • Benefits: Enhances brain function, protects against neurodegeneration, and increases energy levels

Resveratrol

  • Role: Activates sirtuins, proteins that enhance mitochondrial function and promote cellular health.
  • Benefits: Supports cardiovascular health, reduces inflammation, and promotes longevity.

Creatine

  • Role: Supports ATP regeneration, particularly in muscles and the brain.
  • Benefits: Improves strength, endurance, and cognitive function.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids (EPA/DHA)

  • Role: Supports mitochondrial membrane integrity and reduces inflammation.
  • Benefits: Promotes brain, heart, and joint health.

Vitamin B Complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B12)

  • Role: B vitamins are essential cofactors in mitochondrial energy production.
  • Benefits: Enhances cellular energy, reduces fatigue, and supports neurological health.

Glutathione

  • Role: The body’s master antioxidant that protects mitochondria from oxidative stress.
  • Benefits: Enhances detoxification, supports immune health, and reduces inflammation.

Mitochondrial health is a cornerstone of longevity and disease prevention. As mitochondria weaken with age, the risk of degenerative diseases increases. Keeping mitochondria healthy can slow ageing, improve resilience and boost energy.
